Aromatherapy is the use of tantalizing, memory-invoking essential oils to promote well-being in our body/mind/spirit. Essential Oils are single botanical source extractions of the volatile aromatic essences of plants and are up to 70 times more concentrated than in the plant form.

How does it work?

Since the beginning of human time upon Earth, we have looked to nature for health and healing. Our brains have a Limbic system (our primitive brain, which rules our emotional responses without the filters of the mind), and which, when receiving a stimulus, affects a specific, clean, emotional reaction.

Essential oils affect the Limbic system without going through the filters of the mind, enhancing or subduing thus the emotional response to the initial stimulus bringing about the desired effect in our body/mind/spirit. They have very high vibrational frequencies, as do the plants they are extracted from, making them very useful in transforming/transmuting lower-frequency dis-ease, emotions, habits and infection.
Several methods of extraction are used: steam distillation (the most popular and cost-effective), solvent extraction (traces of the solvent used remain in the oil) and cold pressing.

How to use: many overzealous producers/manufacturers/retailers and government caution us on the use of the oils directly upon the skin, suggesting they be diluted in a carrier oil such as olive, jojoba or coconut. I have found no problem using them directly on the skin with the exception of very sensitive skins and caustic oils such as 100% pure Oregano or Clove bud oils. They also warn us on their internal use, and it is common sense to not take them internally. If the effect is desired to be achieved internally we recommend the use of loose-leaf teas of the desired herb, not the oil.

Essential oils can be used for therapeutic and for enjoyment purposes. The main delivery modalities are:

  • Smell: I suggest a drop on the palm of our hands, to be rubbed together and inhaled deeply three times (or more) and watching the effect and taking care that no oil gets into the eyes or nose mucosa.
  • Bath/Foot Bath: Fill the bathtub or foot bath container with the desired temperature water and drop a dozen drops (bathtub) or 4 drops (foot bath) of the desired oil and immerse. Inhale the delightful aromas, feel the tension and stress melt away, and let the oil do the rest!
  • Aerotherapy:A/C: fill a spray bottle with water and 25-30 drops of your desired aroma and spray into the A/C intake ducts as desired.
  • Car: Place drops on a tissue or cotton ball and place under seat. Renew as needed/desired.
  • Work: Take a vial of the desired oil along with you and use a drop whenever you like!

Common Sense Rules for the use of 100% pure essential oils:

  • Keep containers away from open flames, sunshine, and excess heat. Keep out of the reach of children.
  • Consult your qualified physician if under their care before using.
  • Do not take internally unless directed by a doctor.
  • Keep out of the eyes, and mucous surfaces!
  • Do not use during pregnancy or when breast-feeding.
  • If you have adverse reactions, please discontinue use!
  • Use Essential Oils only by drop or as directed.
  • Do not use Rosemary oil if you have high blood pressure.
  • Do not use Ylang-Ylang if you have low blood pressure.
  • Do not use the bath method if you have to maintain a certain level of therapeutic medication in your blood.
